1. Look for Pork & Pig derivatives
Pork is often labeled as 豚肉, 豚脂 (Lard), or ポーク. It is also a primary source for gelatin (ゼラチン) in desserts.
2. Alcoholic additives (Mirin/Preservatives)
Many snacks and noodles use 酒精 (ethyl alcohol) as a spray-on preservative. Sauces usually contain cooking wine or みりん.
3. Mushbooh / Grey emulsifiers
Emulsifiers (乳化剤) and shortening (ショートニング) can be animal or plant-sourced. Unless certified plant-derived, they are doubtful.
